ASIS International Chapter #079, the second recipient of the Roy Bordes Award for Physical Security, took a unique approach to the development and delivery of their program. The Chapter opted to supplement their award, which provides funding in the amount of $10,000 for two ASIS instructors for two days of education. A three-day program was developed in partnership with the ASIS Education Department.

Chapter Chair (2008-2009) Mike Nagurny, CPP commented, “We were able to tailor the program to meet our chapter members' needs. By adding an additional day and local experts, we covered even more material than originally planned.” The chapter elected to limit the number of attendees and charge a modest registration fee for the program.

From technology design and planning to business case development and project management, ASIS subject matter experts provided members of the chapter with the knowledge and experience they sought. In all, 30 members participated in the program.

“The best thing about hosting the Bordes Seminar is that the chapter has wide flexibility in planning it. Decisions on course content, registration fees (if any), location, meals and refreshments were all left to the chapter,” noted Nagurny.
